Throwing a baby shower can be tons of fun. Baby showers are one of the fun-filled highlights of a pregnancy and allow the mom-to-be to enjoy her closest friends and family while celebrating her baby’s soon-to-be arrival. Whether you’re throwing your own baby shower or you’re planning a close friend’s you have a lot to keep in mind. Check out these tips on how to throw an awesome baby shower.
Discuss any and all decisions with the parents-to-be
If you’re throwing a shower for someone else, include them in the decision-making process. Your pregnant friend knows what she can handle and what she’s comfortable with more than you do and should be consulted before you plan something extravagant that she may not want or have the energy for.
Another important factor to discuss with the parents-to-be is the guest list. Ask who the parents do and do not want in attendance so you can avoid any accidental invites to people that make the parents uncomfortable and don’t forget to invite key people who may become offended at their missing invitation.
Plan inclusive games and activities
Plan games and activities that the mom-to-be can participate in so she doesn’t feel left out. Things that are too physical may not be possible so close to her due date—she may need more resting time than you think. Come up with unique ideas such as a group craft, low-impact game, or fun activity that all guests can enjoy together.
Send out invitations early
One of the most important ingredients to an awesome baby shower is the guestlist. To make sure most of the invitees show up, send creative invitations out early. Choosing a creative invitation will help invitees remember the event. Consider something unique such as laser cut invitation cards or sending out a pair of baby socks with the invitation to make a lasting impression.
Decorate
Decorating is also a key factor in throwing an awesome baby shower. Get on-theme decorations and ensure the party area is properly covered in them. If the parents-to-be know and openly share their baby’s gender, blue or pink décor is a fun way to celebrate the baby. If the parents don’t want to reveal their baby’s gender, then keep the decorations as neutral as possible, but still cute and inviting.
